Nonny has a brand new bag

and the grandmunchkins have a brand new wardrobe...sort of. I've been sew busy since my machine came out of the shop just a few short weeks ago. In that time I've completed:
29 bags for WWKIP, 1 tote bag, 2 knitting bags, 6 boys shirts, 3 dresses for THE wedding, 2 vests and bow ties, again, for THE wedding, 1 4th of July dress w/hat and panties, 6 girls tops, and another hat! Grab a cup of coffee and watch the fashion show below:

The Fourth is supposed to be in the 90's and we're going to the parade. Must have a hat to shade the eyes and protect the head of one precious little almost 3 year old! Tops for the girls! Such fun to sew!

Miss R and Miss S will be really something in matching tops for the upcoming big birthday party. Great Grandma will be 75!

Little Mermaid seemed a little young for an 8 year old but we NEVER out grow Mickey!

This year I bought 4th of July fabric months before the big day. I missed my sewing machine sew much I was buying fabric and dreaming of what I would sew. That was like going into the grocery store hungry...big mistake. To sew it all up took fortitude and time and short nights! But it's all done! AND in time for the 4th of July! Here are the tops for two of the granddaughters:

Miss R's Mommy wanted a dress instead so I included the hat and diaper covers.

And I couldn't leave out the boys! They've got shirts. Did ya know shirts were more work than dresses or tops? Lots more! I was glad I did them first! They each have a 4th of July shirt and a birthday bash shirt:

And I'm over the missing the sewing machine. Really over it. Ready to knit a bit, or a lot! But a new bag would make it sew much nicer. I bought the pattern for this bag from a lady in our knitting guild that designed the pattern. It folds all up like a purse but when it's open,

it opens up into a work space that keeps your yarn and notions contained but open for easy access! Wasn't hard to sew up at all and love the bag! I made one for me and one for my daugher.

Dummy me signed up for my first swap ever and the swap package had to be in the mail the day of the wedding. I made it by the skin of my teeth. All of those in the swap made the same hat from Itty Bitty Hats and it was so great to see the different hats from the same pattern! This is my hat, made from a cotton varigated that I forgot the name of and am too lazy to go see right now. It fits Miss R to a "t" in both color and size. Love how it looks on her and even though it was 90 degrees today, she wore it home! Good thing it's cotton!

She tried to take over her Mommy's new knitting bag but I'll bet she doesn't win! But not only does this girl like hand knits, she has good taste! I let her in my stash with me when I was looking for something today and she headed straight for the Blue Moon. Her Mommy better get two jobs!

Ok, I sewn up. I've got to get some knitting or crocheting done!

  1. That bag is so totally wonderful! I can think of so many uses for it. Hey, while I'm thinking of it, do you have a pattern for an old fashioned Laura Ingalls pioneer style hat? Julia & I have seen some and she really wants one but the only one I found was of a very good quality and I didn't want to pay $25 dollars for it when it looked like it'd fall apart. I would gladly pay you to make me one because I know you'd do a much better job and it would be neat for her to have something her aunt made. (So far my sewing expertise is limited to flat items like curtains & aprons- it's hard to learn when all my experts live far away)

  2. I still think you need to mention the 3 dresses you did - and then had to REDO for the wedding!!! And I love my new bag - she didn't even make it home with it! LOL
