If you don't like weddings....

skip this post! But a wedding, and this one in particular because it's the last, is too big not to do a post about! And how often do I get my family dressed like this and all in one place at one time? At a wedding. And not just any wedding, our family wedding. I may be preudice but I think it's a great looking bunch and I love every one of them to pieces! And it's a good thing my shawl covered up my jacket because my buttons were busting!

Our daughter was the coordinator for the wedding. Ahem, actually we referred to her as the dictator, the grunt, the go to person, the jack of all trades. Her job description also included fixing the groom's tie. Something she hadn't done before and can now include on a resume. Actually the whole coordinator job description reads like that of a Mom! I love the sibling picture though.

I posted the pictures of the dresses but to get the full effect the dresses are made much cuter when on the little girls. The girls make the dresses. I was so proud of my grandmunchkins on this day. Our goal was to make the day special for the bride and groom and the grandmunchkins seemed to have that goal as well judging by the way they acted.

The only picture I got of Miss R wearing the dress I made for her and this was after the wedding when she was tired and had had a few strawberries! Miss S caught the bouquet and she was so proud of that! She didn't put it down for the rest of the day. When we tore down the back drop she had the bouquet in one hand and the drill in the other! Pretty funny.
A few portions of the family in their individual family shots. My daughter and son (in law) with their three adorable busy almost two year olds. Hence the "busy"! But all but Miss R are smiling...at once!!!

My son, not the one that got married this day, although when the groom got tired he could have requested his stand in double. The family and the bride would have known the difference however! Another all smiling all looking at the camera! Wow, how did that happen in two families on the same day?

The reception room and cake were beautiful. The bride and her mom basically did this room while we did the santuary. Great team work! Can't you just read this little guy's mind: "When do I get a piece of that cake. Think they'd miss a little lick of the frosting?" And it wasn't your typical wedding cake...it was really yummy! And it looked good enough to eat!

It's over! And Mr. B's actions spoke for the rest of us!

still sewin'

Just a quick post because I'm less than two weeks from my son's wedding day and there is SO much yet to be done! And my husband threw a wrench in the works with a 3 day road trip just to get away! Yikes! But the list is getting shorter. Here is one of the flower girls dresses..DONE! And one more to go but much smaller.
The ring bearer is going to wear a tux but my little almost two year old grandsons needed to be outfitted for the occasion so I made them vests and bow ties. Can't wait to see them all dressed up!
Now I'm off to sew a bit more and then pack. I did research the city we'll be staying in and there is a yarn shop and quilt shop!

wedding, dinner, and dancing...oh my!

Our nephew got married today. Sorry, no pictures of the bride and I'm not sure how I missed that! These are "the guys" before the wedding. From left to right, our son, the one with the energy drink (he'd just got off a graveyard shift), the best man, the groom, another nephew/cousin, and the groom's dad (my brother). Our sons and the cousins spent a lot of time together growing up. In retrospect, maybe too much time, considering the mischief they got into?Is this a typical before the wedding shot or what? A quick tutorial on how to run a camera. Did I say that twins run in our family? My brothers, the groom's dad, and uncle are twins. We had twin sons as well and then our daughter had twins plus a little girl. (as in triplets!)
Four of the grandmunchkins came to the wedding and reception. The look on this little one's face was the same look I had as the events progressed. I was so proud of them. They were social butterflies at the reception but one gentleman came up to tell Mommy and Daddy how polite our grandson was. Big smile on the face of this Granny!

The littlest with her Aunt Yo Yo. And we've never figured out why one earth she calls her Yo Yo. Her name isn't even close!
And the littlest one with her great grandparents. Pretty special when a child has great grandparents!

There was dancing! One dance was for all married couples and then the couples were eliminated by how long they'd been married. We lasted until he said 35 years. But at 30 years the DJ stopped the music and told everyone in the room to look at the couples still on the dance floor and congratulated them on staying married. It was fun to dance to have the opportunity to dance together...something we've rarely done, except at weddings! My parents were the last couple left on the dance floor. Married 56 years! What a heritage to pass on! And quite an example for their grandchildren.

And my husband danced with our youngest. After her grandfather had drug her onto the dance floor. Once she tried it, I think she liked it!

Despite her intial hesitancy at getting out there, the smile says she enjoyed it! I wondered after if her deafness prompted her hesitancy. She can't hear the music so dancing doesn't mean as much to her as to me where the movements go with the music. Something to ponder....

And this was too cute not to post! I'd say this Daddy loves his daughter!
We met some old friends at the wedding. One was a man we went through school with, from grade school through high school. My husband played baseball and wrestled with him. His wife sat down with me and shared about her sons and the pride/fear she has for her youngest son, a West Point Cadet. Thank you Matthew for serving and being a great young man.

They came in by twosies

My brother's little girl got married this weekend. It was a beautiful outdoor wedding and he did better than he thought in giving his little girl away. The Pastor, a cousin of the groom, did a great job of likening earthly marriage to the marriage of the church to Jesus using Ephesians 6.
Family events like this happen rarely and so it's a great opportunity to snap some shots of the marriages in my life. My parents, married 55+ years:

My son and daughter (in law), married almost three years:

My daughter and son (in law), married 8+ years:
And then there is my husband and myself, married 32+ years:
no one got a picture of us...why? I'm the one behind the camera usually. But imagine us with big smiles.
It was a beautiful wedding and sit down dinner after with dancing. No children and though we missed our grandmunchkins it was wonderful to sit down for several hours with our adult children and just enjoy visiting with them as the wonderful adults they've become.
